Can BDB Leasing EAD finance VAT when an asset is purchased through finance lease?
Yes, VAT can be financed through a finance lease. By purchasing the asset from the selected supplier, BDB Leasing EAD pays the agreed price of the asset with the relevant VAT, if any. Depending on the type of lease chosen (“closed-end” or “open-end”), as well as the specific needs of the client, the VAT due under the finance lease may be paid at the beginning, deferred for the period necessary for it to be recovered by the client (usually between 3-6 months) , or deferred for the lease period. In closed-end leases, the VAT on the financed value is invoiced at the beginning, when the leased asset is provided, and the Lessee, if it is a VAT-registered company, receives the right to a tax credit and can reimburse the amount of VAT. In finance leases that provide an option to acquire the ownership of the leased asset, the VAT on the financed value is invoiced in installments, with each lease payment. Again, the Lessee, if it is a VAT-registered company, is entitled to a tax credit for the VAT paid.
