Number 1 on the Balkans and among the Top 10 in Europe in the production of packaging for the pharmaceutical industry, with an impressive capacity of 650 million units per year – these are just part of the achievements of Dunav Press, the successor of the Vilayet Printing House in Ruse, founded in 1864 with the support of Midhat Pasha. The director of the printing house was the renowned teacher and publicist Dragan Tsankov. A modern Kaiser printing machine was delivered from Vienna, featuring Turkish, Bulgarian, and French letters. The published literature was diverse – fiction, religious texts, schoolbooks, legal publications, and periodicals such as the government newspaper Tuna (“Danube”).

The Vilayet Printing House is a company with tradition. Today, it continues to operate successfully, with the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) as its long-standing financial partner, supporting it through various programs and products.

More than 140 employees work at Dunav Press. With its three high-speed production lines, the printing house has been awarded for technological investment. Its latest acquisition is a machine capable of printing between 15,000 and 18,000 sheets per hour – the only one of its kind in the Balkans. Among its leading clients are global brands such as Coca-Cola, Heineken, Molson Coors, Actavis, Ficosota, Zobele Holding, and others.

Dunav Press is also the first printing company in Bulgaria to meet European quality standards. It is listed in the United Nations database, holds a license from the Ministry of Finance for printing securities, and is certified by Deutsche Pfandsystem GmbH (DGP), Germany, to participate in printing security labels for the German deposit system. Recently, BDB Leasing also joined in supporting the company’s activities, enabling Dunav Press to purchase new vehicles, forklifts, and machines to expand its business.
